As what the title has stated, we were asked to analyse articles and advertisements found in newspaper, magazine and printed media. We were assigned to work in a group of four and cut out 10 suitable articles or advertisements to relate it back to the concepts we have learnt from Chapter 6 to Chapter 9. It was quite a problem then since none in my group besides me have any English newspapers.
This assignment aims to build up teamwork and self confidence as we need to present it in front of the class. Besides, it had improved my skill to define and analyse a problem more critically and creatively and come out with an effective solutions. While doing this assignment, I faced a lot of problems in coordinating my team members and I realized the reason for me not being a good leader is because I am always being too lenient and keep the responsibilities to myself. But this is really a good chance for me to strengthen my communication and team building skills. Having group discussion together only when everyone is ready determines the quality of the meeting and save more time. I think choosing your member wisely before you add them into your group is really important as I experienced serious conflict with one of my members.
